- A second-generation entrant to RPG Enterprises, Goenka was 24 when he took charge of the company’s tyre business -- CEAT -- as its managing director in 1983
- He succeeded his father Rama Prasad Goenka to become the chairman of the RPG Enterprises in 1988
- The business group was divided between Harsh and his younger brother Sanjiv by their father in 2010. The group had a market cap of Rs 9,150 crore and sales of Rs 13,313 crore at the time
- After the division, Harsh got the company’s power supply business KEC International, the software firm Zensar Technologies, the drug manufacturing unit RPG Life Science and the tyre production firm CEAT
- Today, the RPG Group has over 15 companies which operate in a variety of sectors ranging from IT, power, infrastructure, tyres, pharmaceuticals to natural rubber and tea production. According to the company’s website, the group has a turnover of $4 billion and presence in several countries across the globe
- Goenka also invests in startups through RPG Ventures -- the incubation arm of the group -- and has invested in Seniority -- an e-commerce platform that caters to the needs of senior citizens
