Billionaire Harsh Goenka, the chairman of RPG Enterprises, aka, RPG Group, recently shared an interesting video of a road in a foreign country, where the divider moved to make the road wider. The video captured the attention of many on the micro-blogging site with many demanding such concepts on Indian roads, especially in Delhi-Gurugram slow-way, Mumbai and roads leading to Kumbh Mela, after it triggered the country’s massive traffic jam.

One user pointed out that the idea aims to maximize road width usage during peak traffic hours but emphasized the need to assess several factors, including driver discipline, rule enforcement, potential vandalism, and traffic police efficiency. Another suggested that this solution would be beneficial for the Delhi-Gurgaon route.


One highlighted that in heavy traffic, people might misuse the system, leading to further congestion. Others expressed the need for such an initiative in all major metro cities but stressed that proper civic behaviour and adherence to rules are essential for its success. Another user praised the concept, especially for roads that experience heavy congestion during specific hours. Some also mentioned that this system would be highly useful in areas like Andheri-Jogeshwari on the Western Express Highway. A user suggested that this concept can also be used on roads leading to Kumbh Mela to ease traffic.
