Yohan Poonawalla's constant motivation to be fit, look good: Wife Michelle

The top boss says that logging gym hours isn’t enough, rather fitness is about a lifestyle change.

For a fitter, healthier you, logging those gym hours isn’t enough feels businessman Yohan Poonawalla. Speaking about his fitness routine at his sprawling Pune residence, he says, “It’s a whole lifestyle change that I’ve been working on for the past seven - eight years. It’s a combination of a strict diet and regular exercise. I try to get in three to four sessions a week in the gym. I do make up for missed sessions too.”

Holidays and work travel present a challenge but he takes it in his stride. “It (body weight) fluctuates by a few kilograms, especially on holidays when I tend to give my exercise routine a break. So it’s a holiday from work as well as the gym and diet,” Poonawalla says.

The toughest though, is controlling the sweet tooth. “I do cheat occasionally. But only if I’m out at a party and some tempting dessert is laid out, do I indulge myself. Or perhaps on special occasions like Navroze (the Parsi new year),” he says.

Poonawalla’s wife, Michelle, serves as a constant motivation factor to look his best. “With a wife like Michelle, I need to keep up with her. Husband and wife should look like a good pair when they walk in together,” he says with a laugh.
