'GMC vision enjoys support of PM Modi & Assam'; Bhutan PM pitches Gelephu Mindfulness City at UNGA

Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay highlighted the Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) project at the UN General Assembly, putting India at the centre of Bhutan’s ambitious economic transformation. Tobgay said GMC sits directly on the India border and has the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Assam government. He highlighted access to Indian and wider South and Southeast Asian markets, clean energy, connectivity and emerging sectors such as AI and data centres. Bhutan is also developing rail connectivity between Kokrajhar in Assam and Gelephu.
