Canadian PM Carney: Trade talks with India could conclude by G20; calls for ‘calibrated alliances’

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney says India-Canada trade negotiations are making “good progress” and that both sides are working towards concluding talks by the December G20 summit. Carney also said India had confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Canada around that time, although the precise date has not yet been announced. The two leaders had earlier committed to concluding negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) by the end of 2026.
