- Kejriwal gained prominence across the country when he became a part of Anna Hazare’s campaign against corruption in 2011
- Soon after, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was formed. It contested the 2013 Delhi Assembly elections and emerged victorious
- Kejriwal took oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi on December 28, 2013. He succeeded Sheila Dikshit, who had been Delhi’s CM for three consecutive terms, and was also Delhi’s youngest CM at the time
- He, along with his cabinet, resigned after 49 days as they failed to pass the Jan Lokpal Bill
- In 2014, he took part in the general elections from the seat of Varanasi but lost the election to the BJP candidate from the constituency — Narendra Modi
