Sansad Ratna Awards 2026: BJP MPs dominate as former CJI Gavai flags Parliament disruptions

Former Chief Justice of India B R Gavai has flagged the impact of repeated disruptions in Parliament, saying every hour lost to disruption is an hour lost to scrutiny and debate. Speaking at the 16th Sansad Ratna Awards in New Delhi, Gavai stressed that disagreement is essential to democracy but must find expression through constitutional institutions. The awards honoured top-performing parliamentarians, with BJP MPs dominating this year’s list. Two Shiv Sena and two Congress MPs were also among the award recipients.
