‘Our engineering talent pool is gold mine’: Modi woos chipmakers, unveils $13.5 bn SEMICON phase
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed SEMICON India 2026 in New Delhi, highlighting India’s rapid progress in semiconductors from policy and project approvals to pilot lines and commercial production. Modi said India has begun the second phase of the semiconductor mission, with an outlay of up to $13.5 billion, and stressed the need to build capabilities across chip design, manufacturing, materials, testing and supply chains.
