Cabinet clears EPFO wage ceiling hike from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000; 51 lakh workers to benefit

The Union Cabinet has raised the wage ceiling for mandatory EPFO coverage from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 per month, expanding mandatory PF coverage to around 51 lakh more employees in the ₹15,000–₹25,000 salary bracket. The ceiling had remained unchanged since September 2014. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the revision takes into account rising incomes and the changing wage landscape. The move is expected to expand formal social-security coverage for eligible workers.
