‘Make cybersecurity top-notch’: Modi proposes fintech consumer protection index at Mumbai’s GFF 2026

PM Narendra Modi addresses the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai and urges the fintech sector to move "beyond UPI" and embrace next-gen innovation while taking "systems and standards to the global stage". He lists four priorities and says India needs to make cybersecurity "top-notch", have "ethical data protection standards", build a "fintech-regulator-industry innovation ecosystem" and create a "fintech consumer protection index", noting "agentic AI, tokenisation and quantum technology" create "new opportunities" in 2026, as attributed to his GFF 2026 speech.
