‘Gyanesh Kumar Chor Hai’: Mamata demands CEC’s removal over SIR row at India Bloc meeting

MAITC chief Mamata Banerjee launched a sharp attack on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at the INDIA bloc press conference, alleging electoral wrongdoing and demanding his immediate removal. She also raised questions over EVMs and electoral software. The INDIA bloc has announced ‘Save Democracy’ programmes from October 2 to 8, an Opposition MPs’ march to the Election Commission on October 6 and five major rallies over the SIR row. The Election Commission has rejected suggestions of institutional dysfunction, saying differing views are part of deliberations and its orders follow established legal procedures.
