Delhi Govt intensifies anti-pollution drive; new plan for vehicles, parking, traffic hotspots

Delhi is stepping up its pollution-control measures ahead of the winter season. Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said the ‘No PUCC, No Fuel’ policy will be intensified, with a strict drive against end-of-life vehicles at all 500 petrol pumps. The government plans fitness checks for 2.5 lakh vehicles while PUC centres will be upgraded in November. Sirsa also outlined measures targeting Delhi’s 62 pollution hotspots, road dust, construction waste and other local pollution sources. Delhi currently has 588 electric buses, with another 150 buses planned for the fleet. New ‘heating spots’ under the Zero Burning initiative are also introduced.
