Cabinet clears ₹8.7 lakh crore infra push; Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 to focus on rural water delivery

The Union Cabinet has approved infrastructure and public utility projects worth about ₹8.7 lakh crore, including the launch of Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 to strengthen rural drinking water services. The next phase will focus on reliable delivery, digital monitoring through the “Sujalam Bharat” framework, and greater role for Gram Panchayats in managing local water utilities.
