The new year is not so new anymore, with one month already down. For those who made resolutions at the beginning of 2019, now is a good time to take stock.

Have they managed to stay the path or strayed? It’s so far so good for Wockhardt MD Murtaza Khorakiwala.

After a ski trip to Switzerland last month, Khorakiwala made up his mind to pick up a sport. “In the holidays [last December], we’d gone skiing, I realised my body was a bit out of shape. Skiing is a very physical sport. You need a fit body,” he shared with ETPanache on the sidelines of a Bombay Management Association press conference, hosted at his office.

And nothing better than picking up a sport to ensure fitness.

“One must play at least one sport for fitness. It’s important. I used to be very sporty in school. I used to play cricket and tennis. To maintain that level of fitness, I’ve decided to go back to tennis,” Khorakiwala said. He started playing at the Willingdon Club in south Mumbai a few weeks ago. Being well-versed with the sport, he doesn’t need lessons, choosing to play with the markers instead.

Apart from tennis, Khorakiwala relies on his morning workout routine to stay fit. He works out with a trainer daily for about an hour. The trainer has designed a program, focused largely on cardio. Khorakiwala also does yoga regularly for mental fitness.
