For many battling obesity, the promise of quick fixes through surgery or medication can feel like the only way forward. But Leah Hope, a young woman from the US, is proving that transformation is possible without either. Her journey of losing nearly 100 kilograms over three years has now inspired millions online — and it all started with a single, simple habit. The story was first reported by The Sun.

Leah admits she had spent most of her life struggling with her weight, often making promises to herself that “when I lose weight, I’ll do this.” Deep down, though, she confessed she didn’t truly believe it could happen.

“I hoped. I wanted it. I prayed for it. But it took me a long time to reach the point where I actually wanted to change my life for it,” she said in an Instagram post shared in June 2025.

For years, she stayed in what she calls a “destructive cycle” of unhealthy habits and excuses. The turning point came when she realized the power to change had been in her hands all along.

Starting Small With No End Date

Unlike fad diets that promise overnight results, Leah decided her journey would have no finish line. She began by building small, sustainable healthy habits: better food choices, accountability, patience, and a mindset shift.

“I started small. I started with mindset. I started with the understanding that there would be no ‘end date,’” she wrote.

Her approach focused on creating a lifestyle rather than chasing a temporary number on the scale.

Exercise, Nutrition, and Mindset Over Quick Fixes

Leah’s weight loss strategy relied on two pillars: maintaining a calorie deficit through mindful eating and exercising regularly. She tracked her calories but emphasized that the focus wasn’t only on shrinking her body.

“It’s important to shift your mindset to focus on gaining health over losing weight,” she explained in caption of her Instagram video.

A Transformation That Went Viral

In a clip comparing her 2022 self to her present, Leah appeared in the same blue T-shirt — only this time, smiling and radiant after losing 98kg (15.5 stone). The video resonated deeply, with more than two million likes and countless comments praising her perseverance.

Leah has since shared her insights through a detailed guide, offering others the tools that made her 200-pound natural weight loss possible. For her, the true reward lies not in attention, but in giving others hope.

Leah says she never imagined she would be the one motivating others, but her message remains clear: change is possible when you stop waiting for the “right time” and start with a single habit today.

“If I can do it, so can you,” she wrote. “The criticism, the energy, the effort — it’s all worth it if I can help someone else believe in what’s possible.”
