Favourite World Cup memory
“There are quite a few great memories, but the one that is etched in my mind is Kapil Dev’s 175 not out at Tunbridge Wells in the 1983 World Cup. I still remember that day vividly as it saved India from defeat. As a family, we were travelling by train from Mumbai to Jammu on our way to Vaishno Devi and at every station, we would run down to the platform to catch a person with a transistor radio to find out Kapil’s score. His innings turned the match on its head, paved the way for India to enter the semi-finals and ultimately win the Cup and made the Indian team start believing in themselves.”
