‘Drishyam 2’ BO report: Ajay Devgn-Tabu starrer enters 100-cr club

'Drishyam 2' has now entered the Rs 100 crore club!
It’s official, ‘Drishyam 2’ has finally hit a century. The Ajay Devgn-Tabu starrer has now entered into the coveted ‘100 crores club.’ The Abhishek Pathak directorial which has been a smash hit from day one is not showing any signs of stopping down, even after a week!

According to trade analysts, the movie earned about Rs 8.50-9.20 crore on the seventh day of its release. With the latest numbers, the film’s total collection now stands at 104.54-105.24 crore.

Renowned film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, took to Twitter to share the details of the Ajay Devgn starrer box-office collections. “#Drishyam2 is 100 NOT OUT… Packs a SOLID SCORE in Week 1… TERRIFIC weekend, SUPER-STRONG weekdays… All eyes are on Weekend 2… Fri 15.38 cr, Sat 21.59 cr, Sun 27.17 cr, Mon 11.87 cr, Tue 10.48 cr, Wed 9.55 cr, Thu 8.62 cr. Total: ? 104.66 cr. #India biz,” he wrote.

The film which is a sequel to the 2015 movie ‘Drishyam’ opened huge on the first day of its release. It amassed a whopping figure of Rs 15.38 crores. This made this thriller the movie with the third-highest first-day collection, just after ‘Brahmastra’ the Alia Bhatt-Ranbir Kapoor starrer, and the Akshay Kumar movie ‘Sooryavanshi’.

The movie picks up seven years after the events of ‘Drishyam’. The protagonist Vijay Salgaonkar who was a humble cable TV service operator in the first movie is now shown as the owner of a movie theatre and an up-and-coming movie producer. Devgn and Tabu reprise their roles from the first movie. Akshaye Khanna nouns the cast, as IG Tarun Ahlawat a colleague of former IG Meera Deshmukh (Tabu). Just like the first film, the sequel is also an official remake. ‘Drishyam 2’ is a remake of the 2021 Malayalam blockbuster movie of the same name starring Mohanlal and Meena.
