‘Drishyam 2’ emerges a box-office winner; Ajay Devgn, Tabu-starrer mints Rs 15.38 cr on Day 1

The Ajay Devgn-Tabu starrer was one of the most anticipated movies of 2022.
‘Drishyam 2’ has hit the bull’s eye at the box office. The Ajay Devgn-Tabu starrer was one of the most anticipated movies of 2022 and by the way it is setting the box office on fire, it seems the movie was worth the wait.
The movie, which is a sequel to the 2015 crime thriller ‘Drishyam’ earned Rs 15.8 crore on the opening day, the makers told the news agency PTI.
Film industry tracker Ramesh Bala also confirmed the news. The trade analyst took to Twitter to share the BO collections of the Ajay Devgn starrer. He said that the movie had collected Rs 15.38 crore on the first day.

This figure has catapulted the thriller drama to the top slot of 2022 releases. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh made a post praising the movie and claimed that the movie was one of the rare few that ended the dry spell at the box office.

The movie now has the third-best opening in the post-pandemic period, just behind Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Brahmastra’ and Ajay Devgn’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ according to a report by Box Office India. The Ajay Devgn movie has also managed to beat the first-day collections of biggies like the Kartik Aryan starrer ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Ram Setu’. According to trade experts, the movie is expected to collect Rs 50 crore over the weekend.
‘Drishyam 2’ has Devgn and Tabu reprise their roles from the prequel. Devgn is as convincing as ever as Vijay Salgaonkar, an aam admi (common man) who leaves no stone unturned when it comes to protecting his family. Tabu is as effortless as ever as inspector Meera Deshmukh who is hell-bent on seeking vengeance for her son who she believes was killed unjustly. The movie also has The movie also stars Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, and Ishita Dutta reprising their roles. Akshay Khanna makes a new entry as Inspector Tarun Ahlawat in the movie.
