Nine equity mutual funds multiplied investors’ SIP investments by more than 1.6 times over the last five years, led by small-cap and mid-cap schemes. Invesco India Midcap Fund topped the list with a 1.71x wealth multiplier and an XIRR of 21.66%.

Nine equity mutual funds turned five-year SIP investments into more than 1.6 times wealth.
These nine funds were from two different categories - smallcap funds and midcap funds. Among these 219 funds, all funds delivered positive returns on SIP investments.

Invesco India Midcap Fund, the topper in the list, multiplied investors’ SIP investments by 1.71 times. A monthly SIP of Rs 10,000 in this fund would have been Rs 10.25 lakh now with an XIRR of 21.66% in the last five years.
Bandhan Small Cap Fund and ITI Small Cap Fund multiplied the SIP investments by 1.70 times and 1.67 times, respectively, in the last five years. These funds gave an XIRR of 21.52% and 20.68%, respectively.
Invesco India Smallcap Fund delivered an XIRR of 20.49% and multiplied the SIP investments by 1.66 times in the last five years. A monthly SIP of Rs 10,000 in this fund would be Rs 9.97 lakh now.
HSBC Midcap Fund multiplied the SIP investments by 1.66 times and generated an XIRR of 20.40% in the same period. Invesco India Large & Mid Cap Fund, the only large & midcap fund among these nine funds, multiplied the investment by 1.63 times and delivered an XIRR of 19.73%.
Bank of India Small Cap Fund multiplied the SIP investments by 1.62 times and delivered an XIRR of 19.39% in the last five years. HDFC Mid Cap Fund, the largest midcap fund based on assets managed, multiplied the SIP investments by 1.61 times and gave an XIRR of 19.05% in the same period.
Nippon India Growth Mid Cap Fund, the fund with the largest NAV, multiplied the SIP investment by 1.60 times and delivered an XIRR of 18.86% in the same period.
Other wealth multipliers
ICICI Pru Midcap Fund multiplied this monthly investment by 1.59 times in the last five years, followed by Edelweiss Mid Cap Fund, which multiplied the investment by 1.59 times.
Quant Small Cap Fund and DSP Small Cap Fund multiplied the SIP investment by 1.55 times each in the said time period, followed by two funds by Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund that multiplied the investment by 1.54 times each.
SBI Contra Fund and SBI Midcap Fund multiplied this monthly investment by 1.36 times each in the last five years. Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund, the largest flexicap fund and active fund based on assets managed, multiplied the investment by 1.34 times and delivered an XIRR of 11.62% in the same period.

Shriram ELSS Tax Saver Fund and Shriram Flexi Cap Fund multiplied the SIP investments by 1.16 times each and delivered an XIRR of 5.99% and 5.93% each. Mirae Asset Focused Fund was the last one in the list and multiplied the SIP investment by 1.15 times with an XIRR of 5.51%.
We considered all equity funds excluding sectoral and thematic funds. We considered regular and growth-oriented funds. We calculated SIP performance of these funds in the last five years.
