Rupee opens 6 paise down at 65.10 against dollar

Meanwhile, domestic equity markets opened on a flat note following mixed global cues. The BSE Sensex opened 21.90 points, or 0.07 per cent, up at 32,411, while NSE Nifty index 30.10 points, or 0.30 per cent, up at 10,176.65.
Last week, the rupee spot depreciated by 0.52 per cent as traders refrained from making any risky bets.
Angel Broking said, “USDINR spot is expected to trade sideways on Monday as markets open after a long weekend prompting the traders to place non-speculative bets.” Forex markets were closed on October 19-20 on account of public holidays.
Foreign portfolio investors sold shares worth Rs 293.88 crore on October 18 with gross purchases and gross sales stood at Rs 4,464.13 crore and Rs 4,758.01 crore, respectively.
Government bonds fell last week amid thin trading volumes, as traders cut positions ahead of the holidays and ahead of monetary policy meeting minutes. The GoI benchmark 6.79% 2027 bond yield was unchanged at 6.76 per cent in the previous session.
