Nicki Minaj is facing a legal dispute that has taken an awkward turn. The law firm representing the rapper now wants to withdraw from the case, citing serious communication problems and disagreements over how to handle the defense. The situation has become more complicated after a process server reportedly struggled to deliver legal papers to Minaj at her luxury New York residence. According to TMZ, the concierge said the couple had a habit of not answering their phones.

Why do Nicki Minaj’s lawyers want to withdraw

The law firm Kurzman Eisenberg Corbin & Lever has asked a judge for permission to stop representing Minaj and her company, Pink Friday Productions, in a lawsuit filed by 24/7 Productions. In court documents, attorney Bruce W. Bieber cited “irreconcilable differences” over the handling of the case. He also said the relationship between the legal team and its clients had broken down.

“Counsel and the Defendants have been unable to align on litigation strategy, and the attorney-client relationship has irretrievably broken down such that continued representation is no longer feasible or appropriate,” Bieber wrote in an October 23 filing. “There has also been a breakdown in communication.”

The firm later asked the judge to let it withdraw, saying Minaj had repeatedly failed to respond to attempts to contact her.

What is the $200K lawsuit against Nicki Minaj about?

The $200K lawsuit began in 2025 when 24/7 Productions filed a lawsuit in New York. The company claims Minaj and Pink Friday Productions failed to repay expenses connected to her 2023 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball performances and events linked to her Pink Friday 2 album.

According to the lawsuit, the company was supposed to receive $275,000 in reimbursement. It says repeated attempts to recover the money went unanswered. Minaj’s lawyers previously rejected the allegations, calling the lawsuit “an ill-advised attempt to sue a famous deep-pocket.”

What happened when a process server visited her penthouse

TMZ reported that the law firm also faced difficulties trying to notify Minaj about its decision to withdraw. According to the court filing, a process server visited the building where the rapper lives in a reported $10 million penthouse. The concierge allegedly said Minaj was not available, although her husband was at home.

The server was also reportedly told that the couple had a “tendency of not answering their phones.” Bieber said another attempt on November 2, 2026, also failed to reach Minaj. The rapper has not publicly responded to the latest filing. The judge has yet to rule on the law firm's request to withdraw.
