Is a new Stranger Things episode coming on November 6? Conformity Gate returns among fans-Here's what Netflix has released
Stranger Things fans are once again wondering whether Netflix has something bigger planned for the show. A series of social media posts from Millie Bobby Brown and co-creator Ross Duffer has brought an old fan theory back into the spotlight. The timing has only added to the excitement. Nov 6 is Stranger Things Day and fans are all abuzz with the hope of some news regarding a secret episode, a new chapter or another surprise from Hawkins.

But Netflix's latest release might well be the simplest explanation.

Is a new Stranger Things episode coming on November 6th 2026?

So far there is no confirmation that Netflix are in the process of making a new episode of Stranger Things. The latest rumour has come via social media activity involving Brown (who played Eleven) and Ross Duffer. Duffer recently posted a meme on his Instagram story with two shots from You Can See Everything with Nathan Fielder. One of the messages read "I know what's coming on Stranger Things Day' and the reply was "No you don't".

The post went viral almost immediately as it appeared just prior to 6th November. Brown also posted an Instagram video of herself mouthing along to an audio of her being lost in the mountains and needing to be rescued. The caption on that video was "If lost, please return to set".

Some people think the posts could be clues as to what Eleven is up to or as a hint at another surprise for the series. Neither post in any way confirms that a new episode is being made or is going to be released.

What is Conformity Gate and why has the theory made a comeback?

Conformity Gate is the fan theory that the series finale wasn't the real ending. The theory is that Vecna created an illusion and that Netflix could still go ahead and release a secret 9th episode. The theory gained attention after the finale aired, with fans searching for possible clues, continuity mistakes and details they believed suggested another ending was coming.

Netflix's January 7 teaser raised expectations, but it did not lead to another episode. Instead, the streamer shared a preview of its 2026 programming, leaving many fans disappointed.

The recent posts have now revived the discussion. The surprise Halloween episode of It: Welcome to Derry has also encouraged some viewers to wonder whether Netflix could pull off a similar release.

However, there is still no confirmed evidence of a secret episode or a sixth season.

What has Netflix announced for Stranger Things Day 2026

Rather than releasing a new episode, Netflix has given fans a behind-the-scenes look at the final season. The streamer released a Season 5 blooper reel on November 6, featuring Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Joe Keery, Natalia Dyer and Maya Hawke, among others.

The footage shows cast members making mistakes, laughing and enjoying their time on set. Jamie Campbell Bower, who played Vecna, also appears in full prosthetics.

The reel gives fans another chance to see the cast together, but some were clearly hoping for a bigger announcement. One viewer wrote, "There better be something bigger coming later," while another commented, "Now give me the rest."

What could be coming next for Stranger Things

There are several projects that may explain the recent excitement. Ross Duffer's meme could be hinting at The First Shadow, the Broadway prequel play that is expected to be filmed and eventually arrive on Netflix. However, no streaming date has been confirmed. Finn Wolfhard and Caleb McLaughlin were also seen filming together in a clip posted by the Stranger Things Updates account on X. Gamesradar have reported the theory that this could be a Super Bowl ad, a Thanksgiving ad or an SNL sketch.

Netflix is also working on a live action Stranger Things spin-off and the animated series Stranger Things: Tales from '85 is another project in the pipeline. The inputs are taken from What's on Netflix, ScreenRant, Games Radar, Just Jared and Parade.

The Season 5 bloopers are the confirmed Stranger Things Day release for now. The 9th episode theory is still unproven and there's been no announcement of Season 6.
