The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots has completed the investigation of 503 out of the 510 cases.

1,481 accused who were found involved in the riots have been arrested, including 25 persons accused in six gangrape cases.

The district authorities have filed cases against MoS for agriculture Sanjeev Balyan and 60 others for violation of prohibitory orders.

BJP MLA Sangit Som appeared in a local court here in connection with a case of violation of prohibitory orders during a protest in 2009.

The last months riots in Muzaffarnagar and Shamli districts have claimed at least 62 lives and rendered several homeless.
