On the global front, gold prices inched higher in early trade.

MCX Gold futures were trading 0.14 per cent, or Rs 45 higher at Rs 31,080 per 10 grams.

MCX Gold futures were trading 0.38 per cent, or Rs 118 lower at Rs 31,070 per 10 grams.

GLD is the largest exchange-traded fund tracking the commodity with more than $36 billion in assets.

MCX Gold futures were off 0.18 per cent, or Rs 56, at Rs 31,376 per 10 grams at 11:20 am.

MCX Gold futures were up 0.02 per cent, or Rs 6, at Rs 30,407 per 10 grams at around 11.25 am.

“Gold can move in a range of Rs 30,550-30,900 while silver can move in a range of Rs 38,200-38,700 in the near term,” SMC said.

Buying by jewellers and investors propped up the yellow metal, too.

The country’s gold imports surged 67% in 2017 from the previous year to 855 tonnes.

MCX Gold was trading 0.13 per cent, or Rs 36, down at Rs 28,521 per 10 gram around 10.40 am.

MCX Gold was trading 0.11 per cent or Rs 32 up at Rs 28,745.

Investors yanked $778m from the VanEck Vectors fund and $217m from the SPDR Gold Shares ETF.

The yellow metal was trading 0.38%, or Rs 111, down at Rs 29020 per 10 gram around 10.20 am (IST).
