Zomato introduces Zomato Pro Plus to shore up revenue per user

Mumbai: Zomato Ltd. has announced plans for unlimited free delivery as part of Zomato Pro Plus for select Zomato Pro members.

Deepinder Goyal, chief executive officer of the newly listed company, tweeted Monday that after 6:00 pm, “select customers” can access “limited edition Pro Plus membership".

“We have 1.8 million Zomato Pro members as of today. And one of the most requested features from our customers has been “Unlimited Free Deliveries” (something like Amazon Prime),” he wrote on the microblogging platform.



Extra surge or distance fee will not be applicable to subscribers of ‘Zomato Pro Plus’, which at present is in invite-only mode.

“All Zomato Edition Black credit cardholders will automatically be upgraded to Zomato Pro Plus. Everybody else will need to buy the Pro Plus upgrade from the Zomato app. Fatafat le lena, baad mein shayad nahin milega,” Goyal wrote.

Zomato first launched a customer membership programme in 2017, which is Zomato Pro in its current avatar. It is a paid membership programme that includes discounts on select restaurants for both food delivery and dining.

Expanding its Pro membership base is part of Zomato’s growth strategy.

According to Zomato’s red herring prospectus, revenue from sale of subscription product, Zomato Pro, fell by almost 34% in FY21. As of March 31, 2021, Zomato had 25,443 Pro restaurant partners in India across 41 cities.
