Flipkart says hired 23,000 more for its supply chain over last 3 months
Flipkart has stepped up hiring to service incoming orders while maintaining pandemic-related precautions. The e-commerce business has shot up during the pandemic, as people continue stay at home to minimise risk of contagion.

Throughout last year, e-commerce and logistics firms were hiring for their supply chain needs across roles like delivery and warehouse management. Data from staffing firm TeamLease shows that 250,000-300,000 temporary delivery and supply chain jobs were created in India during the festive season sales last year. Flipkart and Amazon India have created most of these jobs as e-commerce demand shot up last year.
Currently, e-tailers are largely focusing on delivering essential items, as many large cities like Bengaluru are under lockdown-like restrictions, which have even curbed online sales of non-essentials like electronics.
“The growing demand for e-commerce services across the country, as people continue to remain indoors to fight the coronavirus, has necessitated a ramp-up of our supply chain, creating thousands of employment opportunities," Hemant Badri, senior vice president (supply chain), Flipkart. "All new hires will be covered with our healthcare and wellness initiatives to ensure their safety during these testing times."
