Freshworks opens Bengaluru office to ramp up its data science efforts

Customer engagement software company Freshworks on Wednesday opened its second India office at Bengaluru, which will act as a second engineering center for the SaaS unicorn. The new centre will be focussed on building new platforms and to dedicate more resources to its data science requirements.

“Speeding up product development and enhancing our AI/ML capabilities will be the prime focus as we continue to invest in nurturing niche engineering proficiencies. Bangalore will strengthen our Platform Services, Data Science, Data Platforms and Site Reliability Engineering teams,” said STS Prasad, Senior Vice-President of Engineering at Freshworks.

“This is Freshworks preparing for scale - and handling a larger customer base will require the extra hands onboard. This will also help us go upmarket and win over bigger deals.”


Freshworks will focus on building further expertise in Distributed Systems, Big Data Engineering, Machine Learning and Data Visualization, according to the company. “This team of experts in the Bangalore wing will build platforms from scratch and bring innovations to the table. It will also ensure business continuity...,” the company noted.

The office is expected to be operational by mid-September 2018.

“Chennai has been the center of our operations and we have seen the city transform into the SaaS capital of the country. Bangalore is undisputedly the Silicon Valley of India and hence became the obvious choice for expansion” said Girish Mathrubootham, CEO and Founder of Freshworks.

The company has also hired Suman Gopalan as its Chief Human Resource Officer to lead its talent strategy. Gopalan has previously worked with Whirlpool, Dell and The Nielsen Company.
