Data from market measurement and research firm Nielsen show the number of smartphone users who use shopping apps has jumped to 54 per cent in May, from just 21 per cent a year ago. In comparison, the growth in popularity of shopping websites has been moderate, increasing from 28 per cent to reach 45 per cent. Moreover, smartphone users in non-metros are spending more time on shopping apps than users in metros.
