TCS employees get 50-70% variable in Q1

The payout comes after a prolonged period of subdued variable compensation at the company. For nearly two years until the first quarter of fiscal 2026, mid- and senior-level employees received only about 20-40% of their eligible variable pay.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has paid 50-70% of quarterly variable pay to employees in its mid- and senior-level bands for the April-June quarter, according to people aware of the matter. However, the average payout is at least 10-20 percentage points lower than the bonuses rolled out in the preceding two quarters.

The payout comes after a prolonged period of subdued variable compensation at the company. For nearly two years until the first quarter of fiscal 2026, mid- and senior-level employees received only about 20-40% of their eligible variable pay. The payouts began to improve from FY26, reaching 60-80% in each of the previous two quarters. “In the previous quarters, some of us were given less than 30%...so my Q1 variable was in fact better than the previous few quarters, around 50%-55%,” an employee said.

Meanwhile, another mid-level employee with over 15 years of experience said he received around 35-40% of variable pay.

Infosys, for instance, paid an average performance bonus of 70% to eligible employees for the April-June quarter, unchanged from the previous quarter, but 10 percentage points lower than the year-ago period, ET reported earlier in the week.
