- Mangal Prabhat Lodha is a B.Com, LLB from the Jodhpur University and started practising law in 1979 after the completion of his course
- He left the profession after a few years to avoid any conflict following the appointment of his father, Guman Mal Lodha, as judge of the Rajasthan High Court
- In 1981, Lodha went to Mumbai and took up a job but he was interested in setting up his own business. Later that year he started the Lodha Group
- The group invested in developing real estate and under Lodha, the company started making affordable houses for the middle class in Mumbai's suburbs. Currently, 50% of the company's business comes from affordable housing
- In 2003, his sons Abhishek and Abhinandan joined the company and began to expand the family business rapidly by buying land parcels around Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad
- Lodha then entered the commercial segment and luxury market and started making apartments and condominiums at prime locations in Mumbai. One of his famous projects is the Trump Tower, a 75-storey luxury skyscraper named 'The Park' in Mumbai
- In 2013 and early 2014, the group under Lodha made its first overseas acquisition and bought two properties in London, a building on Carey Street, and MacDonald House in Central London for Rs 4000 crore
- In 2015 there was a rejig in the group and Lodha divided the business into two and gave control to his sons
- Lodha has been active in politics throughout the years and represents the BJP. He is a six-time MLA from South Mumbai's Malabar Hill constituency. He was associated with the RSS and ABVP during his student life
- Lodha Developers was renamed Macrotech Developers in 2019
- Lodha and his family were ranked as the richest real estate developer in India by Hurun and GROHE India in 2019. Their combined wealth was Rs 31,960 crore
