- Kushal Pal Singh is an alumnus of Meerut College from where he graduated in Science. After completing his graduation, he went to Britain to study Aeronautical Engineering and was later selected to the Indian Army by the British Officers Services Selection Board
- After his course at the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun, he was commissioned into The Deccan Horse — a renowned cavalry regiment of The Indian Army
- Singh left the Army in 1960 and joined Delhi Land & Finance Limited (DLF), a company founded by his father-in-law Chaudhary Raghvendra Singh prior to India's independence
- Initially, DLF's business centred around Delhi, but in the 1980s K P Singh helped the company to expand into the capital's satellite city of Gurgaon
- Known for his partnerships with farmers from whom he bought land in Gurgaon, Singh helped in the development of living and working spaces for both Indian and global professionals
- Known as the man who built up Gurgaon from scratch, he led DLF to expand into other segments like commercial properties, malls and hotels. Today the firm is present in 15 states and 24 cities of India
- He was linked to India's BPO industry revolution; in 1989, Singh escorted General Electric to Gurgaon, leading to the birth of the BPO industry in India. Soon the millennial city became home to many multinationals like American Express, Ericsson, Nestle, Dell and PepsiCo
- Under his chairmanship, DLF launched its IPO in 2007. Touted as one of India's largest IPOs, the real estate firm raised about $2.24 billion
- DLF's market cap crossed the Rs 1,00,000-crore mark on the first day itself, and it is today India's largest publicly-listed real estate company
- Singh was among the first who had the vision of a large-sized modern building in India. He retired in June 2020 from the post of Chairman and is now the Chairman Emeritus of DLF
