'Are being penalized for no fault': Jaishankar’s blunt message amid rising global conflicts

New York: Addressing the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, EAM Dr S. Jaishankar said countries far from conflicts are being penalised through no fault of their own, while those most affected often have the least say. Jaishankar said the Gulf conflict was worsening an already difficult situation and expressed concern over the continuing hostilities. He called the targeting of commercial shipping and seafarers transiting international waterways “simply unacceptable”. India called on all parties to exercise restraint, de-escalate tensions, protect civilians and ensure the uninterrupted flow of energy and commerce.
