Mumbai rains: When will it stop? Here's what IMD forecast says
Mumbai grapples with heavy monsoon downpours, prompting a Red Alert for several districts. Waterlogging has disrupted normal life and traffic, with warnings of potential flooding and structural damage. While intense rain is expected to continue on...

According to the weather department, rough sea conditions and squally weather are likely along the Konkan coast. Road, rail, air and ferry services may face disruptions, while essential civic services such as water and electricity supply could also be affected.
The IMD further warned that strong winds and heavy rain may damage plantations, horticulture and standing crops, besides causing minor damage to kutcha houses, walls and huts. It also cautioned against cloud-to-ground lightning during thunderstorm activity.
Commuters have been advised to check traffic conditions before travelling and follow official traffic advisories. Residents have also been urged to avoid staying in vulnerable structures, refrain from working in open areas during thunderstorms and avoid taking shelter under tall trees or isolated structures.
People should unplug electrical appliances during thunderstorms, move away from water bodies immediately and avoid contact with objects that conduct electricity to minimise the risk of lightning strikes.
Meanwhile, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) appealed to residents to avoid venturing out unless absolutely necessary. It advised citizens to maintain a safe distance from trees, dilapidated buildings, hoardings, electric poles and other vulnerable structures, avoid parking vehicles under trees, and stay away from beaches and waterlogged areas.
The civic body said nearly 15,000 officials and employees of the BMC and other government agencies have been deployed across the city, while senior officials are continuously monitoring the situation and coordinating response measures.
The BMC also urged people not to believe rumours, rely only on official advisories issued by the administration and disaster management authorities, and contact its emergency helpline (1916) for immediate assistance.
