L-citrulline has also been connected to rising bioavailability of nitric oxide, according to research. L-arginine is another amino acid found in watermelon juice. “L-arginine has been associated with certain health benefits, including improving blood flow and possibly reducing blood pressure,” Rosenstock said, as quoted by Very Well Health. According to the research, L-arginine can be beneficial to people with high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, heart disease, insulin resistance, and diabetes. Watermelon juice is also rich in antioxidants like lycopene and beta‑carotene, and it provides vitamin C too.
Antioxidants promote cardiovascular health, and they can prevent or slow down some types of cell damage.6 “Lycopene has been shown to help improve blood lipids and blood pressure,” Zumpano further stated.
