How to request your mail ballot again in Florida: If you voted by mail in 2024, you must re-request for 2026 by the October 22 deadline
If you voted by mail in Florida in 2024, there is an important step to take before the 2026 election. You will need to request a vote-by-mail ballot again. For the upcoming November 3 general election, the deadline to request that a ballot be mailed is reportedly October 22 2026. Once you receive it and fill it out, the ballot must be back with your county Supervisor of Elections by 7 p.m. on Election Day. So there are really two dates to keep in mind: October 22 to request the ballot and November 3 to get it back, as per a report by Florida Trib.

Do you have to request another ballot

A vote-by-mail ballot you requested for the election held in 2024 does not automatically carry over to the 2026 election. So, Florida voters who want to vote by mail this year need to make a new request. For the November general election, that request must be made by 5 p.m. on October 22.

Florida voters do not need to give a reason to vote by mail. Any voter can request a vote-by-mail ballot.

The request requires certain types of information, such as your driver's license number, Florida ID number or the last four digits of your Social Security number. If you are unsure whether you have already requested a ballot, you can check with your county Supervisor of Elections.

Once the request is made, the county Supervisor of Elections is required to mail the ballot within two business days. Most supervisors send ballots earlier. Waiting until the last possible moment may not be a good idea at all in case you plan to vote by mail.

When does your ballot need to be back

Getting the ballot in the mail is only part of the process. Your completed ballot has to reach your county Supervisor of Elections by 7 p.m. local time on November 3. The postmark does not change that requirement.

If you are worried about the ballot arriving on time, you can return it through the options available in your county. These include the Supervisor of Elections office and secure drop boxes. You can also take it to your polling place on Election Day, according to the information provided.

Florida's general election is November 3, while early voting is scheduled for October 24 through October 31. Some counties may offer additional early voting days.

There is also an earlier date to remember. The deadline to register to vote or change your registration for the general election is October 5 2026. For anyone who voted by mail in 2024, the key point is that you need to request your ballot again for 2026.

The deadline for the same is 5 p.m. October 22. After that, make sure your completed ballot is received by election officials no later than 7 p.m. November 3.
