US President Joe Biden has come under fire for allegedly dozing off during the state funeral of former President Jimmy Carter.

According to The Mirror, First Lady Jill Biden was seen nudging the 82-year-old president during the service, seemingly to wake him up. Biden, surrounded by prominent figures such as Vice President Kamala Harris, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and George W. Bush, was caught on video with his eyes closed, prompting a flood of reactions on social media.

One user on X (formerly Twitter) posted, “Biden is taking a nap at Jimmy Carter’s funeral,” alongside a clip of the president appearing to rest his eyes. Another wrote, “Joe Biden fell asleep within the first minutes of Jimmy Carter's funeral,” while others joked, “If you had Joe Biden falling asleep 30 seconds into Jimmy Carter’s funeral, you’re a winner.”

Social media users were quick to highlight the president’s history of appearing to nod off during public events, with many mocking the moment as yet another instance of his "sleepy" persona.

As reported by The Mirror, former President George W. Bush was seen leaning forward multiple times to speak with Biden and Harris, seemingly in an effort to keep the president engaged. This interaction added to the speculation surrounding Biden’s apparent drowsiness.

Frosty Interactions Among Attendees
The funeral, which brought together all five living U.S. presidents—Biden, Donald Trump, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton—was marked by not only political tensions but also visible personal rifts. First Lady Jill Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris reportedly appeared to avoid interacting with one another.

This chilly dynamic came as Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, switched seats to avoid sitting near President-elect Donald Trump and Melania Trump. Meanwhile, Barack Obama and Donald Trump were seen chatting, despite their past political clashes, with one observer noting, “Obama and Trump look more interested in talking to each other than any of the couples.”

The viral footage of Biden, coupled with the strained interactions among other attendees, has fueled public interest and criticism surrounding the solemn occasion.
