No plastic packs for pan masala? What FSSAI’s new packaging rules say
FSSAI has tightened packaging requirements for pan masala under regulations notified on August 7, 2026. Plastic-based and plastic-laminated materials are not among the permitted packaging options. Pan masala can be packed in specified plastic-free materials such as paper, paperboard and cellulose, as well as tin or glass containers. Here is what the new rules allow and exclude.
