Nominations for the Mumbai BMC elections 2026 have officially closed, finalising candidates for all parties. BJP–Shiv Sena (Mahayuti) seat-sharing is complete, with BJP contesting 137 wards and Shiv Sena (Shinde) 90 wards. The Congress–VBA alliance has released its first list of 70 candidates, while NCP is contesting independently. The elections, scheduled for January 15, will determine control of Mumbai’s richest civic body, with vote counting on January 16.
