Curfew was relaxed in 11 districts, including Imphal West and Churachandpur for six hours on Wednesday.
An Assam Rifle soldier was injured after unidentified miscreants fired several rounds on troops deployed for area domination in restive Manipur’s Dolaithabi in Imphal East on Wednesday. An Army insider said, “after firing few rounds, the miscreants ran away. One Assam Rifles personnel was injured and moved to a military hospital.”

The Army, meanwhile, continued surveillance of the hinterland and the Indo-Myanmar border. Unmanned aerial vehicles and MI17 and Cheetah helicopters have been deployed for aerial monitoring of activities. Foot patrols and flag marches to restore people’s confidence too continued on Wednesday. A total of 128 Army and Assam Rifle columns have been deployed in the state. Army insiders said that troops were vigilant against possible attempts to destroy peace by anti-social elements and determined to restore normalcy.

They appealed to people to be vigilant against malicious attempt to disturb harmony through manipulated videos or misrepresentation of facts. Mobile internet service have been suspended till Saturday.


Curfew was relaxed in 11 districts, including Imphal West and Churachandpur for six hours on Wednesday. At least 60 people were killed and 231 people injured and 1,700 houses burnt in the ethnic violence in since May 3.
