ITBP confirms skirmishes in Arunachal with China, DG bats for Atmanirbharta in war technology

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has confirmed ongoing face-offs with Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) troops at multiple locations in Arunachal Pradesh. ITBP Director General Shatrujeet Singh Kapur said the force has raised Shaurya commandos and is strengthening combat readiness along the 3,488-km Line of Actual Control (LAC). Stressing the need for modernisation, he called for greater investment in drone and counter-drone technology, noting that traditional warfare methods may not be sufficient to meet the challenges posed by China. Kapur also said the entire force would undergo the STRIKE combat training course by the end of 2027, while self-reliance (Atmanirbharta) and indigenous technology remain key to addressing evolving security challenges along the border.
