Cyprus vows deeper ties with India ahead of EU Presidency; Kombos hails India as ‘global powerhouse’

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met visiting Cyprus Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos in New Delhi and reviewed the India–Cyprus Joint Action Plan 2025–2029. The two leaders discussed global geopolitical developments and cooperation in multilateral fora. With Cyprus set to assume the EU Presidency in 2026, both sides underlined their commitment to strengthening strategic, economic, and cultural ties. Kombos hailed India as a ‘global powerhouse’ and praised its growing influence in an increasingly multipolar world.
