Amit Shah chairs southern CMs meet: Delimitation, water disputes dominate talks

Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired the 31st Southern Zonal Council meeting in Tamil Nadu, where chief ministers raised key political, economic and inter-state issues. Karnataka CM D K Shivakumar called for the 1971 Census to remain the basis for delimitation. Water disputes also featured prominently, with Shivakumar raising the Mekedatu project and Kerala CM V D Satheesan flagging the Mullaperiyar dam issue. Healthcare, infrastructure, environmental protection, mining reforms and regional security were among other issues discussed.
