1984 anti-Sikh riots case: Delhi court acquits Sajjan Kumar; victims’ families break down

Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court acquitted former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar in the Janakpuri and Vikaspuri 1984 anti-Sikh riots cases, citing lack of evidence and failure to prove his presence. The court discharged him from murder charges. Victim families broke down, questioned the justice system, and announced appeals to higher courts. Senior advocate HS Phoolka called the verdict unfortunate and said survivors will challenge it in the High Court. Kumar continues to serve a life sentence in another 1984 riots case.
