I won't backstab or blackmail: DK Shivakumar on Karnataka CM post

Karnataka Congress president and CM aspirant, DK Shivakumar today said that he will not backstab or blackmail the party for the chief minister post.

Both Shivkumar and Siddaramaiah had expressed their desire to become the new Chief Minister of Karnataka.

Shivkumar, who is coming to Delhi today to hold talks with the party high command on the CM post, told ANI, "Ours is a united house, our number is 135. I don't want to divide anyone here. Whether they like me or not, I am a responsible man. I will not backstab and I will not blackmail."


Shivakumar had cancelled his scheduled visit to Delhi yesterday ‘due to stomach ache’, dashing hopes of Congress to settle the matter by Monday.

Earlier on Monday, Siddaramaiah reached New Delhi on the request of the Congress high command for talks.

The CLP at its meeting on Sunday unanimously passed a resolution authorising Mallikarjun Kharge to choose the new chief minister of the State.

In the May 10 polls to the 224-member Assembly, the Congress won 135 seats, the BJP 66 and the JD (S) 19. The results were declared on May 13.
