The BJP election manifesto has pledged to transform Karnataka into a premier hub of electric vehicles (EVs) by supporting 1000 startups, setting up charging stations, and converting the Bengaluru city transport buses (BMTC) into electric vehicles.

The party, if returned to power, will establish an EV City on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

The election manifesto, released by BJP’s national president JP Nadda, said the party government would develop Bengaluru for the next generation by designating it as the State Capital Region.

The government will unveil a comprehensive, technology-led city development programme centred around ease of life, cohesive transportation networks and enabling ecosystems for making Bengaluru a global hub of digital innovation.

The government will set up a ?30,000 crore K-Agri Fund to establish micro-cold storage facilities, agro processing units in all gram panchayats, modernise APMCs, accelerate farm mechanisation, establish five new agro-industry clusters and three new food processing parks, backed by a 1,000 strong farmer producer organisation (FPO) ecosystem.

The party regime will broaden the scope of the production linked incentive (PLI) scheme by incorporating a comprehensive plan centred on logistics, industrial clusters, connectivity, and export facilities adding about one million jobs in the manufacturing sector in regions outside of Bengaluru.
