BJP appoints Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan poll in-charge for Karnataka

The BJP on Saturday appointed union minister Dharmendra Pradhan as the party in-charge for the upcoming assembly elections in Karnataka.

Pradhan has been entrusted with the responsibility after his success in last year's UP elections. The BJP had retained power in UP with a handsome margin, with Pradhan playing a crucial role in the party's performance.

Pradhan had earlier been the party election in-charge in states like Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jharkhand.


The BJP, currently in power in Karnataka, is facing a tough battle in the state. Pradhan has been deployed also because of his prior experience as the BJP general secretary in-charge of the state between 2011 and 2013.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Tamil Nadu BJP unit president K Annamalai will be the party's co-incharges for the high-stakes polls.
