During the meeting, Shukla stated that the Congress would form the government in Himachal Pradesh by winning more than 50 seats. He further said that all the leaders and workers of the party have worked together for the candidates throughout the election, and now there is a need to work with the same promptness till the day of counting of votes.
He said that right from the nomination of Congress candidates in Himachal Pradesh assembly elections to the gathering of huge crowds in the rallies of the Congress party, it proves that the Congress is forming the government in Himachal Pradesh with more than 50 seats with full majority.
Targeting the BJP, Shukla said that there is public anger against the ruling dispensation and people want change in Himachal Pradesh.
Shukla also said that the BJP may try to influence the assembly elections by tampering with the EVMs at the last moment.
He said that all leaders and workers should keep a close watch on the strong room and EVMs so that no one can attempt to break into it. He said that party leaders and workers should continuously remain at the counting place and keep monitoring.
Replying to Shukla's allegations, the BJP’s state chief spokesperson, Randhir Sharma said that ever since the voting is being done through EVMs in the country, the Congress leaders are blaming EVMs. He added that Congress leaders blame EVMs only when they are losing the elections. He said that the Congress leaders know that they are going to face a big defeat, so they are trying to divert the attention of the public, Sometimes they talk about EVMs and sometimes they talk about horse trading.
