Details on Himachal Pradesh Election
Himachal Pradesh Assembly Election 2022: Congress wrests state from BJPPolling: All the 68 Assembly seats in Himachal Pradesh went to polls in a single phase on November 12. The state recorded a voter turnout of 75.6%
Results: Votes were counted on December 8. The Congress wrested the state from the BJP winning 40 of the 68 seats. The BJP won 25 seats. The Congress' vote share was 43.9 per cent and the BJP's was 43 per cent. The Independents won from three constituencies and the Aam Aadmi Party, which had contested from 67 seats, failed to open its account. Eight state ministers failed to get re-elected.
AAP, whose campaign had tapered after the initial stage, got only 1.10 percent of votes. The CPI (M), which fought on eleven seats, also did not win any seat.
Rebel menace: Rebels played a spoilsport for both the BJP and Congress in 12 out of the 68 assembly segments. The rebels, who contested as independents, marred the prospects of BJP candidates in eight seats while Congress candidates were hit in four seats.
HP maintains tradition: Himachal Pradesh maintained its tradition of not voting any incumbent government to power since 1985. In 2017, the BJP won 44 seats, the Congress 21, Independents two seats, and the CPI(M) one seat.
