Himachal elections: Congress declares four more candidates

Nigam Bhandari, the leader of the Himachal Youth Congress, filed for nomination from Kinnaur. Bhuvneshwar Gaur was the candidate for the Manali seat, and Kirnesh Jung was renominated for the Ponta Sahib seat by the Congress.

The third list of the Congress' four candidates for the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections was made public on Saturday. In addition to contesting Yadwinder Goma in the Jaisinghpur-SC district, the Congress renominated incumbent MLA Jagat Singh Negi for the Kinnaur-ST seat.

Nigam Bhandari, the leader of the Himachal Youth Congress, filed for nomination from Kinnaur. Bhuvneshwar Gaur was the candidate for the Manali seat, and Kirnesh Jung was renominated for the Ponta Sahib seat by the Congress.

With this announcement, the Congress has named all but one of their candidates for the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections. The hill state's 68 assembly seats will be up for election on November 12; the results will be counted on December 8.


The deadline to submit nominations is October 25. In the hill state, where the Congress and the BJP have alternately held office for several decades, the Congress is attempting to overthrow the BJP.
