Tejashwi Yadav gets Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders’ praise

Mumbai: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has received a big round of applause from MVA leaders for putting up a big fight against the ruling JDU-BJP combine in Bihar assembly polls. They were hoping that RJD in power could strengthen opposition ranks at the national level, which may help them put pressure on the central government on several issues, including clearing GST dues to the states.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar told reporters in Pune, “From the campaign that I witnessed, on one side were Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his ministers, CM Nitish Kumar — all experienced people with the entire state machinery, while on the other hand, we had an inexperienced Tejashwi. The way he has performed is very good,” adding, “Even if there has been no change today, there are signs that it can happen in the future.”

Sena MP Sanjay Raut declared Tejashwi the Man of the match” and said that he has single handedly given a tough fight to the JDU and BJP. Raut also asked Nitish to introspect, “He is a three-time CM, he was the face of the campaign, the elections were fought under his leadership, now he has landed at the third position. He should introspect.”


Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan said the results have shown the Congress has not performed as was expected of the party. “For the Congress, one of the reasons could be there was no tall leader from the state. This was a good opportunity for the opposition to stage an upset in Bihar as there was a lot of anti-incumbency and both the BJP and JDU had not delivered on their promises.”
